Кэйтлин Кирнан (Caitlín R. Kiernan)

(р. 26 мая 1964, Дублин) американская писательница. Вместе с матерью в детстве переехала в Лидс, Алабама. Ее интересам в подростковом возрасте были – литература, герпетология и палеонтология.

Окончила Университет Алабамы в Бирмингеме и Университет Колорадо в Боулдере. Изучала геологию и палеонтологию. Один из авторов описания нового вида мозозавра – Selmasaurus russelli. С 1992 года – профессиональный писатель.

Первый роман The Five of Cups был написан в 1992 году, но издан лишь в 2003. Первый рассказ был опубликован в 1995 году – “Персефона“. В 1998 году опубликован первый роман “Шелк“.

Ее рассказы часто входили во всевозможные антологии (в том числе и на русском языке).

Из романов на русский переведена новеллизация “Беовульфа“.

Является одним из ведущих авторов современной литературы ужаса – четыре раза завоевывала International Horror Guild Award. В 1998 год получила Barnes and Noble Maiden Voyage Award за лучший дебютный роман. За “Галапагос” награждена премией Джеймса Типтри младшего.

В 1996-97 годах Кэйтлин Кирнан была лидером рок-группы Death’s Little Sister.

Живет в Провиденсе, Род-Айленд, вместе с партнершей Кэтрин Поллнак, фотографом и кукольником.
